Open-beam shade over a patio or walkway, including a herringbone pattern when you want something finer.

A level, solid deck or balcony off the house, framed right and finished so it holds up to sun and rain.

A straight, strong fence with a gate that swings true, built to match the house.
Freestanding arbors
A garden entry or focal point that gives a yard its shape.

It is common for my jobs to be in perfect condition many years after they are built.
About
I am Craig Kengla. I build what I draw.
I started as a framer in 1985. I began building my own business in 1988 and became a licensed contractor in 1992. After the Northridge earthquake I built and repaired all kinds of structures across the Valley.
As a licensed general contractor I have also built custom homes, room additions, and remodels, but outdoor wood structures are my specialty. I design with engineers when the job needs it, and I know the permitting and inspection process.
I build with select structural Douglas-fir, free of heart center so it does not twist or crack. Paint-grade work is pre-primed before it goes up, prepped for paint, and finished with top quality products. Stain-grade work is available too. I work out of Northridge and build across the San Fernando Valley and Ventura County.
